Here's my submission to the first challenge of #KickYourOwnAss, that challenge being to redraw your very first submission to DA. Since my very first submission to DA was deleted YEARS ago (before storage came along), I ask if I could redraw the first submission that was still in my gallery...that being Deep Red, which was my first pic of my bumbling hitman, Black Ice. I got permission and so here he is, redesigned and looking a bit more badass.

I remember when I first discovered the joys of custom PhotoShop Brushes back in 2003 (and with that, ~darkmercy's PhotoShop Brush sets), and covered the background of the original version of "Deep Red" in them. I thought I was SOOOO AWESOME back them. Pffffft. I originally wanted to do the same effects on the background with the new version, but decided again it and went with a more photomanipulated background while keeping some elements from the original (i.e the lyrics, the creepy text, the rose, and the bricks) intact (besides Black Ice himself) in order to tie the two together. Also, I used a panel from the manga "One Piece" as a reference for Black Ice's pose in the old picture. I now try to use photos and thought a more "action" pose was in order.

Oh Black Ice. Why did I ever stop drawing and Rping you? Oh yeah...you bought the farm. My bad!
