So, here's another one of those pieces I had lying around on my computer for awhile that I decided to finish in order to force myself to make artsy things. I really hope I'll get my creativity back soon, but I feel so drained lately due to real life repeatedly getting in my way.

Oh, Noctem. You are such a buffet of manliness!

But anyway, I haven't drawn Noctem in over three years so I thought I would try again, using very little reference aside from the one mentioned above (I rarely need them for headshots anyway), more smoky effects in place of the shit Tim Burton type tentacle effects I used for his shadow energy signature, and making sure to focus on his face more than usual (before I mainly focused on his face and his polydactylism equally...but his polydactylism can't even be seen here so...yeah). In the process this new image in some ways wound up being a redraw of this old piece from 2008:



I guess I really have improved. The skin texture looks better, as do his eyes in both shape and colour and the gradient on his hair looks really nice.

Now if only I could get his son Cameron to look right.

I'm sure someone will say he's ugly or think he's evil, which personally makes me either want to facepalm or laugh my ass off. You shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, and Noctem here represents that little fact very well. ^_^
